Oddball Seattle trio record Kula Shaker song for new singleThe Presidents Of The USA have recorded a version of Kula Shaker's 'Night On The Town' for the B-side of upcoming single 'Volcano'. The mad-as-hatters Seattle stars recorded the cover when they were in London at the end of last year - they say it's their way of paying tribute to one of their favourite bands. Guitbassist Dave Dederer told Kerrang!: "We love the band. They've supported us in Europe and America; we jammed with them on this song when they played recently in New York." The trio cut three other covers during the same sessions: 'Heaven 90210' (Urge Overkill), `Let's Lynch The Landlord' (Dead Kennedys), `Too Much Monkey Business' (Chuck Berry). "They'll all be used as B-sides on future singles, but I don't know when," says Dave. One cover that will definitely not be released is the Presidents' version of 'Could Have Been A Lady', by late '70s Canadian rockers April Wine. "It's awful. We did it one night in a Seattle studio with Soundgarden's Kim Thayil on guitar. We were all drunk and it's just unlistenable. There's a tape of it around, but we'll never officially release it!" `Volcano' is released by Columbia in early March. The band hope to tour here during May or June. |
