Subset (PUSA + Sir Mix-A-Lot + Outtasite) – 2000-03-31 – Palookaville, Santa Cruz, CA – (AUD) – TORRENT

September 2nd, 2010 zeke No comments

My first torrent is up on Dimeadozen.org. Great site where you can download live concerts from various bands.

“Is DIME membership closed? Every time I try to register, you’re always full.

We are still accepting new members, but there is a cap in order to keep the load on DIME’s servers (and the load on DIME’s moderators!) at a manageable level, so that users can get the best possible service and support.

Every ten minutes around the clock a sweep runs that removes any accounts that have expired since the last run. DIME’s home page tells you how many new accounts were opened in the preceding twenty-four hours, and that’s a good gauge of how many openings there might be over the next twenty-four hours.

So keep trying, and good luck. We do not have a waiting list, nor (at this writing) an invitation system. You just have to snag a slot when one is available. We’ve found that if you keep trying for about thirty minutes at a sitting a couple of times a day it should not take long. “

“It’s nice to be in Portland, but it’s more in Portland to be nice”

My 3rd time seeing them in that year (The other recordings are in circulation). It was their second time in Portland that I knew of and it was at Satyricon! With Dave Grohl’s new band?!? Bonus! The Prez made the most of the very packed house. It was a wicked fun 35 minutes. A wicked fun night.

This was a benefit for the Viva Zapata fund to find the killer of Mia Zapata of the Gits who was brutally murdered in Seattle a couple years prior to this. Fortunately her killer was caught through DNA matching 10 years later and is locked away for 36 years. This is the companion recording to the Foo Fighters set, also in circulation.

We are Not Going to Make It

Great time seeing PUSA. It was free, warm and clear outside, they haven’t played here
in a while and they pulled out a couple treats.

Unfortunately, I made it to the show ~ 15 minutes after their official starting time of
2030, and, I think they started playing a little before that. I was able to hear some of
the songs I missed, and, I know for certain I missed ‘Kitty’, ‘Boll Weevil’, and ‘Ladybug’.
I walked in during the middle of ‘Highway Forever’ and didn’t start recording audio until
the song was almost over and decided not to start video until the next song, which ended
up being ‘Back Porch’.

Overall the show was good and the guys seemed to be enjoying themselves very much as did
the crowd, but, they didn’t sing along too much. Audio and video came out nicely, however,
as I was so close to the stacks, the mic on my HG20 distorted with deep and heavy bass hits.

Mr. McKaeg meshes well with the band although he obviously doesn’t have the history that
Dave did, he plays the old songs well and he fits in. I hope these guys stick together and
keep playing.

Good to hear that the original taper is still working on this: (mailed him about this 6 months ago)

“I have my master of their shows @ MOE’s in Seattle, Holidaze ’95/’96 (a secret little midday/midweek show taped for Dick Clark’s New Yrs Rockin Eve + their honest New Yrs Eve show). Hi8, super close, great shows. I will convert-to-digital + all that, share here nearer the New Year for all you Prez Fans)” – Noodles

Any idea where this is from?

I can tell you one thing: Camera work is horrible. You get motion sickness when the camera films the audience…

Story Of The Three Strings by Dave Dederer

August 16th, 2010 zeke No comments

This is way too funny:

Studebaker: Can you tell me who came up with the unique guitar you guys have (3 strings or whatever it is)

Dave Dederer: Ted Nugent.

Studebaker: this sounds like a great story…do tell?

Dave Dederer: He and I were bowhunting lions on the Serengeti. One night we were sleeping out in the open and a pride of lions startled to circle our camp and then walk amongst us spread out in our sleeping bags. The alpha male in the group started to paw and sniff Ted. Our weapons were in the vehicle, but my guitar was nearby. I ripped off three strings as quick as you can say Jack Robinson, fashioned them into an impromptu garrotte and choked the lion to death. Ted was fine, other than a mild case of cat scratch fever. And I’ve been playing with three strings ever since.
