Earliest circulating version of Monkey River (aka monky river), next “bootlegged” version is from 2004!

– I have gotten few emails regarding the whole show. Do I have it? Yes…. BUT the Bootleg CD-R I bought is 15 years old, and it’s started to degrade. Tracks 1-9 can be ripped, but tracks 10-13 might be beyond repair. CD-R’s can start to degrade in five years and become useless (some early dvd-r’s can become useless in few years!) This is one of the reasons why hardcore bootleg traders only use(d) Taiyo Yuden produced CD-Rs, they simple last longer. I’m gonna get this Bootleg CD to someone who has an old Plextor CD drive (not those later rebranded ones). I already tried to rip this CD myself with two different drives, but no luck (corrected offset and secure mode with EAC) …Anyway…that Monkey River version was worth the 60bucks alone.

Now with FLACs and Internet trading you don’t have to worry much about degrading CD-Rs, but if you have old CD-R/DVD-R copies lying around, you might want to rip them to hard drive (remember backups!), and make new copies…before it’s too late.
