Let’s start with Texas BBQ. Package is easy to open. There’s two “meat” bites, which look and feel little slimy (like marinaded real meat) when in room temperature. These are really chewy for a soy product, and has a real jerky feel. Spices are little too sugary for my taste. There’s no word about what the “natural vegetarian spices” are. If you eat this with your fingers, you’ll get sticky fingers from sugar. There’s very little fat used. No salty jerky taste at all. Overall this is really sweet and could have used more smoke flavors and spices.

Primal Spirit Foods Inc, Strips, Meatless Vegan Jerky, Seitan, Teriyaki, 24 Count, 1.0 oz (28 g) Each

This is really different compared to the Texas BBQ. Whole texture is different with the Teriyaki version. There’s much more spices used, and more fat. Even thought there’s slightly less salt used, it has more salty taste. Not much sugar as with the BBQ version. Not my favorite meatless jerky, there’s just something wrong the flavor. There’s old wood, and musty taste. There’s also more “marinade” used.

Primal Spirit Foods Inc, Strips, Meatless Vegan Jerky, Hickory Smoked, 24 Count, 1.0 oz (28 g) Each

From the first bite you can tell that this is the spiciest out of the three tested jerky strips. There’s just way too much pepper used. I don’t really taste anything else than the pepper and cane sugar. Texture is great, not too chewy. With less pepper this would rate much higher.

Rating: 3/5

There’s pretty much the same story on each flavor. All of them have a sugary taste, thanks to cane sugar. With less sugar these would compete easily with real meat jerky. Best out of these three was the Texas BBQ flavor. All of the product were purchased from
