My Top-3 of artists and bands from Canada
I’m a huge music fan, I’ll always look for new music to listen. I wanted to share my Top-3 bands from Canada.
1. Neil Young
There wasn’t much competition for the number 1 spot. Neil Young is one of the artists that people either love or hate. I can’t say which on is better song “Old Man” or “Heart of Gold”, but my favorite album is “Prairie Wind”. I doubt any of the hardcore fans will pick that one as their favorite. I find it uplifting, perfectly produced, well balanced, and has great stories (like every Neil Young album does).
2. The Band
Some will say that the Band is overrated or underrated. How many bands has ever created four superb albums in a row? Music from Big Pink (1968), The Band (1969), Stage Fright (1970), Cahoots (1971). The Last Waltz documentary (concert video) is one of my all-time favorites too. One of the live concerts I have watched more than twice.
3. Tom Cochrane
Tom Cochrane is pretty much trapped with his “Life Is a Highway” fame. It’s a shame really. Tom put out other great songs (and albums) in 90’s too. If I have to choose one album that I would recommend, I’d say check out “Songs Of a Circling Spirit”. It didn’t get much good reviews for some reason. It’s pretty much a “complication” of acoustic versions of his biggest hits. Anyways, I think it’s a great starting point.
